About Agricultural Conservation

Agricultural conservation assistance is provided through a wide variety of federal and local programs in partnership with USDA-NRCS and DNREC through the Conservation Cost-Share Program.

FARM BILL PROGRAMS

The USDA – Natural Resources Conservation Service offers many conservation programs through the Farm Bill, including the Grassland Reserve Program and the Wetlands Reserve Program. For a complete description of offered programs, link to the USDA – NRCS Delaware website at www.de.nrcs.usda.gov.

STATE CONSERVATION COST-SHARE FOR AGRICULTURAL CONSERVATION PRACTICES

Hayfield_Buffer_IrrigationFinancial and technical assistance is available for a wide variety of conservation projects including but not limited to: wildlife ponds, wildlife hedgerows, forestry plantings, riparian buffer establishment, pasture establishment and renovation, rotational grazing/fencing, hay planting, nutrient management, manure management, drainage tile, drainage ditches, invasive species control, irrigation systems, phragmites spray program, and many other conservation practices. NUTRIENT MANAGEMENT

Roof GutterFunding is provided through the Conservation Cost-Share Program for projects involving the management of nutrients on a farm. This can include manure storage structures, gutters on barns and other structures, stream fencing for pastures, and other practices.
